Yellowstone House
Inspired by the owners’ passion for Yellowstone and crafted around 25 years worth of handmade furniture and exceptional artwork, the stunning Yellowstone House was built in the style and tradition of the Old Faithful Lodge. Set at the edge of a meadow and adjacent to some of Big Sky’s most beloved cross-country ski trails, this log home looks as if it has been standing for a century, as much a part of the scenery as the towering Douglas firs and lodgepole pines.
To capture the true essence of classic lodge style, the details throughout the house were meticulously crafted. The logs were ax-cut and dark-stained, just like those in the Old Faithful Inn. Though the horizontal logs are fairly uniform and appropriately sized, the home’s vertical logs are oversized and were hand-selected for their unique character.
Knotty railings and accents perfect the traditional look. Expansive cathedral ceilings in the entryway and great room give way to the still open, but more intimate spaces in the kitchen and dining room. Log archways and an overhead loft allow the rooms to be cozy, dedicated spaces, while still open to the two-storied great room.
